Mrs. Fatma Çınar, Deputy Secretary General of TKBB participated as a speaker in the seminar titled “The EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism: Obligations, Risks and Opportunities” organized by the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO).
The opening speech of the program was delivered by Giyasettin Eyyüpkoca, Member of the ITO Board of Directors. The session was moderated by Bülent Şen, Member of the ITO Assembly. The speakers of the session included Eyüp Kaan Moralı, Head of the Carbon Pricing Department at the Directorate of Climate Change under the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change of the Republic of Türkiye; Elif Berrak Taşyürek, Head of the EU Single Market and Green Deal Department at the Ministry of Trade of the Republic of Türkiye; and Altuğ Karataş, Board Member of Energy Efficiency Organization (ENVER).
In her presentation, Fatma Çınar highlighted the impacts of the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), implemented by the European Union, on exporting sectors, as well as the obligations, potential risks, and opportunities it may create for companies. She also addressed the opportunities that sustainable finance and participation finance instruments may offer during the green transition process, emphasizing the role that the financial sector will undertake in this transformation.
