In cooperation with the Finance Office of Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye (CBFO), Participation Banks Association of Türkiye (TKBB) and the Islamic Financial Services Board (IFSB), international standard-setting body of regulatory and supervisory agencies with approximately 188 members from the central authorities of the Islamic finance industry, a forum titled "Strengthening Ties Between the IFSB and The Participation Financial System in Türkiye" was held on November 18, 2024, hosted by Istanbul Finance Center Halkbank headquarters to strengthen the strategic ties between Türkiye and the IFSB in the participation financial sector and to ensure the sustainable development of the sector.
The opening speeches of the forum were delivered by CBFO Vice President Necip Fazıl Kaymak, Deputy Secretary General of TKBB Fatma Çınar and IFSB Secretary General Dr. Ghiath Shabsigh.
The first panel of the Forum, titled "IFSB's Strategic Directions and Initiatives: Mainstreaming Islamic Finance", IFSB Secretary General Dr. Ghiath Shabsigh, IFSB Assistant Secretary General Suhail Issa Al Zadjali, IFSB Acting Assistant Secretary Generals Aminath Amany and Dr. Abideen Adeyemi Adewale delivered their presentations.
Ms. Fatma Çınar, Deputy Secretary General of TKBB, moderated the panel "Stability and Resilience of Islamic Finance Amidst of Global Challenges: The Role of Regulators and Standard-setters" moderated the panel. In the panel, Dr. Tarık Akın, Head of Participation Finance Department at CBFO, Dr. Mohammad Zougari-Laghrari, Head of Research at Elmagrib Bank and Dr. Abideen Adeyemi Adewale, Deputy Secretary General of IFSB shared their experiences.
In the last panel of the Forum titled ’’IFSB- Türkiye Relations and the Way Forward’’ moderated by Fatma Çınar, Deputy Secretary General of TKBB, ", Erhan Akkaya, Director of the Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye (CBRT), Şanbaz Yıldırım, Head of Department, Insurance and Private Pension Regulation and Supervision Board of Türkiye (SEDDK), and Ahmet Tok, Chief Legal Expert, Capital Markets Board of Türkiye (CMB) made presentations and shared their insights on the participation finance sector assessment from the perspective of regulatory bodies and their future prospects in terms of IFSB- Türkiye relations.
