Türkiye Finans Participation Bank Sustainability Studies

What are the Sustainability Visions of Türkiye Finans Participation Bank?

Türkiye Finans participation bank acts by focusing on social, environmental and socio-economic sustainability efforts from a macro perspective while sustaining its efforts to improve the sector and the customer. Accordingly, the sustainability approach at Türkiye Finans is based on three main focus areas: economic, environmental and social.

Türkiye Finans does not base the competences of the organisation solely on financial targets such as increasing the balance sheet or achieving profitability. First and foremost, as a part of the participation finance system, it is included in a system and enables growth by focusing on sustainable production within this system. More precisely, as a part of the participation finance system, it is aimed to shape the way of doing business by creating value for the world and Turkey. As a participation finance institution, Türkiye Finans maintains its determination to be involved in production and trade. With this understanding, it increased the financing support provided on both the retail and commercial sides, contributing TL 156 billion to the national economy in 2023. This strategy played a major role in the 49 per cent growth in funds disbursed and 80 per cent growth in non-cash financing.

In addition to all these, Türkiye Finans states that digitalisation is an important lever for sustainable development. It is very important to offer banking products and services to customers in a fast, secure and easy experience without creating an additional process in their ordinary daily lives. It is claimed that this progressive approach will bring Türkiye Finans to the level of "Invisible Banking", which is defined as the banking of the future, in a very short time.

How is Türkiye Finans doing in sustainability efforts?

Türkiye Finans provides financing support to many solar and wind power plants in order to utilise sustainable energy potential. In addition, considering that the roofs of the production facilities of the companies they work with within the scope of the Rooftop SPP regulations are a natural wealth in terms of solar energy generation, they support this potential. With this approach, Türkiye Finans has provided financing support of more than USD 210 million to 350 MW of renewable energy projects in Turkey, primarily green energy projects.

Türkiye Finans Headquarters building, which has the International LEED Gold Certificate in green building rating with its energy and environmentally friendly design, was awarded the "B" class Energy Identity Certificate as a result of the active use of central control and automation systems and full compliance of all employees with the energy efficiency provided by these systems.

On the other hand, Türkiye Finans, which continues to carry out activities that make a difference in reducing paper consumption and carbon footprint in line with its "We are for Tomorrow" discourse, became the first participation finance institution to launch the "Digital Slip" application in card purchases.

Türkiye Finans designed and implemented these activities with a holistic perspective;

- Saved approximately 91 thousand receipts per month with Push Notification application

- By transferring customer instructions to the bulk EFT channel, the Company saved 418 thousand pieces of paper annually.

- By moving EFT and Money Transfer transactions to the Central Instruction System, 41 thousand pieces of paper were saved.

- Approximately 23 thousand pieces of paper were saved by receiving the Independent Audit Reports through the system.

- In the last year, all credit card types except Anonymous were digitised, saving 8 million paper.

- As a result of the transfer of invoices obtained from customers for financing to the electronic environment, 40 thousand paper was saved.

In addition, within the scope of the HR Paperless Project implemented this year, the paperwork process in recruitment was digitised. Thus, a paperless environment was achieved. Türkiye Finans, which created the Platform Mobile Application within the scope of the project, made all recruitment documents, including recruitment contract approvals, available via the Platform Mobile Application for candidates who will start working at the bank.

In the traditional document process, the total number of pages of documents requested from 1 candidate was 54. At this point, Türkiye Finans saved approximately 44 thousand documents according to the number of candidates in the experienced and inexperienced candidate breakdown in the 2023 projection data. With Robotic Process Automation (RPA), 25 thousand hours were saved with 54 active projects.

Document Mobile Approval Project

Within the scope of the Document Mobile Approval Project, work is being carried out to approve 110 documents on mobile devices. In this way, it is aimed to save nearly 2 million paper annually. In addition, with the digitalisation of banking transactions, annual paper consumption was reduced from 25 thousand boxes to 5 thousand boxes. While saving paper, sapling planting was not neglected. Since 2021 alone, nearly 24 thousand saplings have been planted in the Hope Forest in cooperation with TEMA Foundation.

Social Dimension of Sustainability

At Türkiye Finans Participation Bank, diversity in the social dimension of sustainability is at the centre of the corporate culture. While the average rate of female employees in participation banking is 20 per cent, this rate has increased to 40.3 per cent at Türkiye Finans. Increasing this ratio to a much higher level is among the biggest targets.

What are the Sustainability Approaches and Missions of Türkiye Finans?

Türkiye Finans's sustainable, people-oriented and inclusive banking approach was confirmed by the "Women in Business Survey" conducted in 2024 by Inbusiness magazine, one of the most prestigious publications of the business world. In the survey, in which more than 100 companies participated, nearly 3 million employee data have been processed for the last four years, and 700 thousand employees took part this year, Türkiye Finans was included in the lists of Companies with the Highest Ratio of Women in the Number of Mid-Level Employees and Women's Appearance in the Board of Directors and 100 Equality Pioneer Companies Where Women Can Rise.

In Türkiye Finans's sustainability approach, appreciating employees and guiding future generations continues to be a strategic business objective. All human resources practices are shaped with a 'people-oriented banking' approach. With the CORE New Graduate Recruitment Programme and We Plus Part Time Recruitment Programme, which were launched in 2017 with the motto "Grow from the Core", more than a thousand young talents have been brought to Türkiye Finans Participation Bank and the finance sector in the last 6 years.

In this context, Türkiye Finans designs and implements tailor-made training programmes under the roof of the "Talent Development School" in order to support the development of young talents recruited to the bank through the Core New Graduate Recruitment Programme and the We Plus talent acquisition programme, which were selected as one of the 100 most admired talent programmes of 2022 by TOP Talent 100 voting last year. In order to support the development of Turkey's young talents and help them steer their careers, the Bank participates in more than 30 campus events throughout the year and continues to organise various events within the Bank under the roof of We Studio.

Türkiye Finans not only works in the finance sector, but also endeavours to provide qualified education to children in need in order to ensure equal opportunities in education. In this context, it provided qualified education to approximately 5 thousand children through Koruncuk and TEGV.

Türkiye Finans is proud of the progress it has made so far with the awareness that it still has a long way to go.
